Dear All,
------------------------------------------- 1999 AAAI Symposium Series Proposed Symposium on INTELLIGENT AGENTS ON THE CYBERSPACE Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA March 1999/Oct 1999 ------------------------------------------- It is proposed to organize a Symposium on Intelligent Agents on the Cyberspace, next year under the popular and highly reputed AAAI Symposium series. A brief synopsis of the symposium is given below. I am sure many of you would be interested in the symposium on a rapidly emerging area of growing importance and significance. The organizing committee and AAAI Symposium committee, however, would like to gauge the interest in the proposed symposium to proceed further. PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO ME (s.murugesan@uws.edu.au) IMMEDIATELY, giving your name and address, if you are interested in the proposed symposium. This NOT A COMMITMENT TO PARTICIPATE. Those who expressed interest will automatically be included in the mailing list of the Symposium and will be informed with further details of the Symposium. As the acceptance of the proposed symposium depends on how many persons have expressed interest in it, YOUR RESPONSE IS VERY IMPORTANT. PLEASE RESPOND BEFORE 10TH JUNE 1999 via email to s.murugesan@uws.edu.au ------------------------- Synopsis of the proposed Symposium on Intelligent Agents on the Cyberspace Intelligent agents, a rapidly emerging new paradigm in artificial intelligence and computing, have potential to play vital roles on the Cyberspace, the global information infrastructure facilitated by the Internet and the Web. There is now growing interest in and need for deployment of intelligent software agents on the Cyberspace - on the Internet and Web - to mitigate some of the major difficulties we face and to enable effective use of the Cyberspace for a variety of applications. To make a quantum leap in this area and to tap on the vast potentials of intelligent agents on the Cyberspace, however, researchers and practitioners in artificial intelligence/agents, Internet and web, information systems and e-business communities need to work together to 1) explore potential opportunities, 2) address various issues in design and development of intelligent agents for applications in Cyberspace, and 3) devise new, integrated, comprehensive approaches for widespread implementation and effective use of intelligent agents on the Cyberspace. This symposium will cater to these needs, promote and accelerate work in this area, foster new developments and contribute to widespread applications of AI/intelligent agents in the ever growing, rapidly getting congested, complex Cyberspace of the networked world. The goal of the symposium is to assess the current status of research, development, and applications of intelligent agents on the Internet and the Web, and to pave directions for further work. By bring together researchers in the area of intelligent agents, information retrieval, electronic business and the Internet and Web, the symposium will provide a platform for focussed presentations and foster useful discussions on the important theme - intelligent agents on the Cyberspace. It will also address the specific issues that impede the progress, practical implementation and widespread deployment of intelligent agents on the Cyberspace. --------------------------------------
