Is QBE a V(P)L?
QBE is a (somewhat domain-specific) 2D language for constructing a declarative statement of a data-retrieval script. There is no procedural requirements in the statement of the "program" (although implementations necessarily(?) convert the statement into a procedural language, eg. SQL). It definitely makes use of 2D, and it definitely involves visual abstractions. I did not see a reference on the Visual Languages List for QBE -- does it not belong there? |
