Actually, the opposite effect can happen with
HyperNews and similar centralized bulletin board
systems. They become easy targets for suits and
shutdown efforts. NNTP news articles may not go everywhere, but they start out anywhere and no one owns them, except each author in the copyright sense. The plan for HyperNews is to use NNTP or something like it to distribute new articles. There can be replicas of the home base(s) - they will remain as the archive of articles, however.
