storing ascii responses, even a lot of them, just
doesn't take much disk space so it's not hard to
store them with the original material. plus since
most people don't have a server, you would be
really limiting the people who could respond, which
is really bad. because the medium isn't as ephemeral as usenet is, i think the volume of material will be much less, even for the busiest subjects. i feel the biggest barrier to the use of this kind of system right now is the UI: you can't expect people to do/say much in this horrid motif editor! and integrating tightly with an external editor (ie emacs) will be difficult without changes to the clients, which is hard to spread widely. if only w3.el were better/faster... |
