1. I presume you've seen the rash of articles
on the subject recently (not necessarily
technical, but they show the momentum
toward Web Intranets as alternates to
Notes):
Wall Street Journal, Nov 7th.
Fortune, Nov 27th.
Byte, November.
(Others I can't remember.)
2. Over half Netscape's income is from
Intranets.
3. What solutions have you come up with,
or are you still trying to make sense of
it all? Anyone else out there considering
the notes v web/net issue?
4. There's a thread that's seen a lot of
posts recently (including far too many
from me!) in comp.groupware.lotus-notes.misc.
You might want to check it out/contribute to
it (it's called something like "Notes v WWW").
The reason I picked up on the HyperNews
thing again, is that I received an automail
from the server. Seems to be a new feature
when someone posts. Obvious, but also very
cool, don't you think? One can subscribe or
unsubscribe at any branch level by the
looks of it. HyperNews is going places.
I posted the initial WWW v Notes message to the
testbed HyperNews server back in May then forgot
about it. Sorry I didn't respond to your later
message on the same subject till now.
----
My guess is you got no responses. When I tried
to email you this message (rather than post it),
it failed as you had given an incomplete email
address. Chances are no one will ever read this,
let alone the poster I'm responding to. On the
other hand, I'll post it here and see what
happens...
