First, Java is not the same as JavaScript. HyperNews does no Java at
this point.
There is some use of JavaScript in HyperNews 1.9.1 and .2, but it is
completely optional. If your browser doesn't have JavaScript (or you
have disabled it), you just won't get the helpful text messages that
further describe some of the links.
In the next version of HyperNews, we are going to make heavy use of
JavaScript, however. We may continue to support non-JavaScript
browsers, but the display options will be more limited than the
current version of HyperNews provides, just to simplify the code.
