None urc.pl: parseURCFile works on first call, then fails ...

Forum: HyperNews Bugs

From: David Black

This is the result of some debugging/detective work inspired by the "Document contains no data" errors I was getting (see earlier thread, if interested).

I tracked it down to some very weird behavior on the part of urc.pl. The routine parseURCFile opens the .html, urc file successfully on the first call (from get), but then fails the second time. I've tried various hacks, like spoon-feeding it the filename, debug/print statements, etc.

I have no idea whether this is a perl problem, a HN problem, a Linux kernel problem.... All I know is that it happens on one of my machines, and not on the other.

Any perls of wisdom on this?

Thanks -

David Black
