A possible bug is that the owner of the base article
cannot unsubscribe. The code is supposed to check
the list first before checking the owner of a page.
I may have already fixed a bug that might have been there
previously - I was modifying the subscription code to
clean it up for B5.1. I just checked again, and the
code looks fine.
Turn on debugging in buildList in subscribe-lib.pl
to see what it is adding to the list, and whether
unsubscribing works.
Another thing that may be happening is that if you,
as owner of the page, add a response somewhere,
then you will be subscribed at that level too, unless
you explicitly unsubscribe, so
you will get notification of responses to that.
Unsubscribing at the base article level will not do
it for you.
If you really want to turn off all notification
of yourself for a particular article, or for the whole
site, you need another option or two that do not yet
exist. It would not be hard to do, but other things
have had priority.
