After a disk crash (my first ever, and I hope my last) on my home
machine, I installed the latest gizmos. I tried MS IE 3.0 and see
what you mean. There are a few things I can do (have done) to fix up
the display, but fixing the vertical whitespace between display list
(DL) items is not one of them. I would have to use something
completely different and equally troublesome elsewhere, such as ULs
with no bullets or BRs for every line and empty images for indentation
filler.
Another serious problem I just noticed with MS IE and Mosaic for
Windows is that the width of form fields is often much too small, on
the order of half what it should be. Netscape has no problem like
this, and in fact they error on the too large side. Could this be
part of the battle? If so, Netscape ought to win if truth prevails.
