First, I seem to have installed HyperNews 1.9B5.6 successfully. Almost.
The problem is notification. My system, for whatever reason, does
not have sendmail. Instead I use mail or rmail to send messages
from CGI scripts.
I've edited hnrc to have $sendmail='/bin/rmail '. This should fix the problem, no?
What happens is when a user adds a response, everything works until the
actual response submission. Then I get "Server Error 500" -- the
script blew up.
When I go back to check, the response has been added correctly to
the article. Only the notification has failed. BTW, it appears that no
mail has been generated.
Possible causes of the problem:
1) Wrong flags on rmail.
2) Improper file permissions somewhere (my server runs as nobody).
3) I didn't get a balanced breakfast this morning.
Suggestions?
