Sounds like the HN configuration is not pointing to the correctly
hnpeople directory. Many possibilities. You would have to give me
many more details before I could figure out what is going wrong.
How about sending me your hnrc file(s).

I'm adding a change to not show those fields if there is no registering.
But this doesn't really solve your authentication problems.

I am not sure what you mean. By "name" you probably mean
the "userid", and if you don't provide the proper password (or it
thinks you have not), it probably should not let you post using that
userid, so it makes sense to me.
