Again, thanks for your ideas Alex. The appearance of the tree layout depends partly on your browser. Some put blank lines between lines, some don't. Most indent by a big chunk for each level, while a few don't indent the nested DL lists. Better style control would fix many of these problems. So I am tempted to use your suggestion to use <PRE> tags to get the layout I want. Hmm, I could maybe even change back to the proportional font for each line. Many people like the icons, and there is alt text if you want to turn them off. Too bad you can't do it on a per-part-of-page basis. Style again. We shall find an icon for the "none" relationship though to fill in the space. Numbers will be going away for another reason (they will be less relevant), but right now they aid in navigation. I tried turning them off and found it confusing, but that might be fixed in other ways.
