HyperNews is free, and I'd like to keep it that way at least for the near term. We are considering some way to provide funds for more development, since there is alot still to do. Some license arrangement for commercial use might be imposed (since if you are making money with HyperNews, I'd like to too), but probably not until the server itself has the same restrictions.
