Authorization Failure when creating Articles

I'm trying to add an article. Because of our configuration, it requires an administrator. Why does authorization fail when I enter an e-mail address and password (that I got out of the "/hn/hnpeople/username@comp.com" file) of one of our administrators (found in .htAdmin)? It seems that there may be a difference between the password assigned during running "setup-form.pl" and the one that you find when you look in /hn/hnpeople/username@comp.com file.
