Um..  Sounds like HyperNews is working just the way it is supposed to.
"Subscribing" means you want HyperNews to send you an email message for
each posting.  That's what the instructions say.  You must have thought
it meant something else, but what?  If you don't want to be subscribed then
unsubscribe, or better yet, don't subscribe in the first place.

Newer versions of HyperNews allow you to unsubsribe from every forum at
a site.  Use the edit-member form for that, if it is available to you.
