Re Nicolas being a son or brother of Bernard. He is definitely NOT a son, but being Bernard's brother is a possibility, but it is pure conjecture as there is no documentation that supports it. At least no documentation in Canadaian genealogy records, perhaps France would be a place to look.
In Tanguay Volume 1, he lists Bernard Laisne as the only male of the Laisne dit Laliberte line. He also lists Robert Laisne dit DeLaCroix who married Marguerite Lemaistre daughter of Francois. Robert and Marguerite had a son Michel born july 3 1695 in Trois-Rivieres.
He also lists three women: Anne Laisne born 1655; Genevieve Laisne born 1651 and Marie Laisne born date unknown. He lists these four people as being unrelated to each other.
In Tanguay voulme 5, he lists in addition to Bernard Laisne the following people: (These people are listed such that there is no link to Bernard Laisne shown)
A) Michel Laisne dit Tranchemontagne b 1651 father not listed
B) Olivier Laisne dit Laplume, b 1658 son of Jacques and Francoise Guedel of Bretagne France.
C) Etienne Laisne dit St. Pierre b. 1685 son of Pierre and Marie Briseau of Larochelle, Aunis, France.
D) Pierre Laisne married to Louise Patenotre had a son Francois b Mar 16 1720.
E) Michel Laisne b. 1734 son of Nicolas and Marie Boutloup from St. Martin des Briards, died dec 25 1776. Married jan 12 1756 in Kamouraska to Marie-Angelique Ouellet. Marie_angelique later emarried to Augustin Miville on July 19 1779 in Kamouraska.
Children of Michel Laisne and Marie-Angelique are:
1)Theotiste b May 2 1757, m Jun 30 1778 to Pierre Landry.
2) Michel b Jan 25 1763
3) Marie-Madeleine b Dec 15 1764
4) MIchel-Amable b April 12 1770
I know this doesn't answer your question as the above information (which I photocopied from Tanguay) does not explicity link Nicolas Laisne and his son Michel born 1734 to Bernard Laisne. So it is possible that Nicolas and Bernard are related but there is no documented proof that links them.
