Hello,

I apologize if I am posting this message in the wrong thread.

I am currently researching my Laisne family name. I don't have a lot of information yet, but my ggg grandfather was Alphonsus Laisne, born about 1790 in Cheticamp, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. I don't know who he married. The family subsequently moved to the Port au Port area of Newfoundland where the name changed from Laisne to Laney and then to Lainey.

I am hoping that someone can help me trace my Laisne roots from France (I presume) to Nova Scotia, and if anyone knows of any Laisne relatives of my ggg grandfather throughout the Maritimes and Quebec. Of course, ANY info (eg. origin of name, Acadian connections, etc.) that one can share with me would be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Beverley (Laisne/Lainey) Eveleigh
