Klaus, your reviews are always great to read! I very much enjoyed meeting you and the others, too. I could take so much more out of it by sharing the experience. As I looked for a ticket very late I was seated behind her which made her sound a little muffled and also of course I could only see the back part of her body language. But it was still so very much worth it! And she was so kind to turn around during the encore which made the faces of the people behind her light up. Both Berenices feel angry despair and deep pain, but Gluck's has more of the latter and Haydn's more of the first which was enhanced by the fast tempo Rattle chose. I personally like the dvd version better, but anyway, Cecilia was incredible. How much longing can be put into "aspetta", how much despair into "ucciso"? I had the chance to meet her after the Sunday concert and I was a bit nervous at first, but she was so nice and warm and natural, just wonderful!
