Ms. Bartoli's Met Debut or De Butt

One, can someone answer a question for me, is C. B. a soprano OR a mezzo soprano? My second point is about her upcoming Met debut--rumor has it that she will be singing the role of Despina. Now, naught for nothing, but Despina is a secondary role-not a starring role. Any responses?
