Vermont Teacher, Roy Steuwe, Half Way through His Thru-Hike

Forum: Appalachian Trail
Date: 1995, May 19
From: Kathy Bilton <kbilton>

I just happened to see an article in today's Hagerstown (MD)
Morning Herald (May 19) about Vermont teacher, Roy Steuwe.
He is thru-hiking the A.T. as a final project for earning
his master's in education from Lyndon State College in
Vermont.

On his way north he has been stopping to talk to students
at various schools along the way, as well as to send back
info, such as daily temperature readings, reports of
animals he sees, etc. to students at the school where he
teaches, Derby Elementary, near the Canadian border.

He stopped at Boonsboro Elementary Scool in Boonsboro, MD
which is just a couple of miles from the A.T.
