Hey Janet -
I don't think it's too likely that you're going to find groups
hiking the trail for an extended period of time unfortunately.
One alternative you might try is to start out with one of the
organized day hikes run by some of the local trail clubs. That
might give you a day or two to make some connections with other
through-hikers, and maybe hook up with some that you feel comfortable
with. Another suggestion would be to post a request for a hiking
partner in one of the Internet newgroups, such as rec.backcountry.
Who knows, you may be able to make a good connection that way. If
