Janet I don't know if you've left to hike the AT yet, but I am also looking for a partner. I intend to thru-hike starting early spring '99 and no one I know is willing to make the long haul. I'm not really worried about being alone on the trail, but companionship is always appreciated. I am also interested in how you are preparing for the hike. Are you going to send yourselves food packages or bring money? When are you going to do the AT? I will be 19 in '99 and am taking a year off after high school to take a leadership program in Arizona and then hike the AT in the following spring. As you can imagine, none of my friends really love hiking enough to go with me and I anticipate a difficult time finding someone to go with me.
