HELP! Two beginners taking a 4-day trek through Va.

Okay, is there anybody out there that is willing to suggest a good 4 day hike through Virginia's portion of the AT? We are limited in that we want to end up no farther than a 30-45 minute drive from I-64. Should we attempt the north or south side of the interstate? In addition, we are going on May 15th, and are looking for a good scenic trail, yet are trying to get away from all the visitors (why are you all laughing). Since we are beginners we were hoping that somebody might have a checklist, recipes, or just plain survival tips. We hope to come back.
