HELP! Two beginners taking a 4-day trek through Va.

We hiked through there in November and found it to be rather difficult once you leave the National park. If you park at the Howard Johnsons right at I-64 and head South down the Blue Ridge Parkway you will pick up the trail there. The hike to the next shelter is about 5 easy miles.
