I just got back today actually from the AT. I did 50 miles from dickey gap to Damascus. It is a great hike that is a little chalenging but not that bad. It took me five days to do this, but I stopped allot to go flyfishing on all of the streams. There are a great quantity of shelters and campsites allong the way. Once you get to the highlands proportion you have exellent views. You come within a 1/2 mile from Mt. Rogers the tallest moutain in Va. The way out is exellent into Dimascus because you go allong the virginia creeper trail. It is practically flat! Near dimascus is buzzard rock, which is the best view I have ever seen in my whole life. Overall the hike is exellent!
