Hi. I've wanted to thru-hike for a while now and I am in the process of gathering information that will help me to plan wisely. I really want to hike by myself, but for my father's peace of mind (he is a police officer) I am open to the idea of hiking with someone else. So, my question is two-fold, really. How safe are women hikers on the trail if they are alone? How do you subscribe to a listserver or newletter that lists people who are looking for hiking partners?
