I am replying to the woman who is looking for a list of hiking partners. I do not know of such list or database, but am looking into it. In my neck of the woods this week there has been a missing 24 year old female hiker. Authorities fear she is dead. I am a woman often in search of a partner to do a day hike. Not necessarily even to speak with: just two people (with or without dogs)to hike quietly through the woods and offer the "safety of numbers". I DO wonder though if such a database already exists. If not, I am going to try to start one. Hiking alone for women is probably okay MOST of the time: but do you want to take the chance? Better to find a buddy, I think.
