Irv: We have a relativly small group compared to the groups in the I-5 corridor approximately 20. At the point that they stop showing up to meetings they stop showing on missions as well. We have a limited number of pagers and asssigned team equipment so it necesary for us to do this just to keep a minimum level for response. My personal feeling is that if you can keep the training interesting you can keep them coming to training. Also I have a hard time justifying to people why they have to attend training when their team leader on the next mission hasn't been to training in six month. It is also a personalized rule if we know you are having problems then we cut you a lot of slack. Like you, in ten years I have missed only 3-4 missions, schedule most of the training, and am currently the president of the group, I am the Operations Section Chief on missions for the county and have an assigned vehicle (I helped build and now maintain it). BTW I'll sign the paperwork remove 4 members from the group on Wednesday. |
