I am wondering if any of the other groups had problems getting the other public service agencies to use them. We have several members from throughout our county who have training in SAR, but when a search comes in, the fire department gets alerted. I realize that we don't have a lot of experience, but we are willing to go anywhere in the county, and even out of the county to help out. That is the only way we will ever get any experience, right? I would like some advice on approaching the fire chiefs to let them know we exist, without making them feel threatened, or making them think that we are trying to take over. We would like to encourage each of the six volunteer fire depts. and the five EMS squads in our county to participate with us. So far, we have members from two fire departments and two squads. Any Ideas? |
