Dimensions of Cyberspace

The categories of collaboration capabilities may be considered dimensions of cyberspace. I list several dimensions here but they should be described more fully elsewhere:

• Same (or different) time vs Same (or different) Place

• One-way vs Two-way vs Multi-way
• Distributed vs Centralized
• Persistent vs Ephemeral (stored or merely forwarded?)
• Private vs Group vs Public
• Moderated (by one or peer-reviewed) vs Unmoderated
• Read-only vs Read/Write vs Write-only
• Any others? To what dimensions am I still blind?

• There was a lot of discussion starting about June of '93 about public and group annotations - when there was a public server available. I came at the same subject from the direction of responses to articles, but "responses" is just another name for public annotations, as discussed in an annotation. • MOLTIP-UID & R-HTTP Technical Specification - MOLTIP-UID scheme which allows the server to identify a specific instance of a browser. R-HTTP protocol allows the server to communicate with a particular browser.
• FrontPage lets you edit their pages, for use by people working on "patterns". I'm not sure which of the above categories of collaboration this fits under - maybe we need some more categories.
• LINCKS - A Platform for CSCW LINCKS is an object-centered database management system with extended support for multiple views, temporal data handling and composite objects. Several features, such as the parallel editing support, make sharing and reuse of objects and cooperation between users easy.
