download link filename trouble

hello. i have put some links to files in various formats ( .ai & .eps ) on a web page - eg <a href="logo.ai" >logo</a> but when you click on them and choose to save the downloaded file to disk the file extension changes to .ps why does this happen, can i stop it? thanks in advance! mike
