The searching problem is, in general, how WWW clients or users find information provided by servers. The process of finding information may be partially automated, but there is usually some human involvement, some browsing or intelligent analysis.
Browsing is essentially manual searching, sometimes with the intent of finding something in particular. Better organization of material in support of browsing also aids searching.
Indexing is about how information is collected and organized in support of automatic searching.
URCs (Universal Resource Characteristics) are metadata that may be used in searching.
Agents, Infobots, and Knowbots perform automatic searching and related services.
