According to my Webster's only 5 out of 19 uses of the noun
"master" specifically refer to males. And the use which
occurs in "WebMaster", 'an artist, performer, or player of
consummate skill,' makes no reference to gender.
It is trivial $#!+ like this that gives feminism a bad
name. A lot of us are out there trying to put a stop to
rape, mutilation of girls' genitals, getting called foul
names at work etc. Then someone comes up with some
nit like this and some men pile on and say, "see, I told you
so! Those feminists are all a bunch of trivial nuts! We don't
have to listen to a thing they say!"
For what it's worth, I anticipate becoming 'an artist...
of consummate skill' at websitebuilding--
i.e., a WebMaster.
